Art

What does medicine have to do with art? This question is often raised by patients and admirers of Dr. Jonathann Kuo, a practicing physician and artist based in New York City. To some, the parallels between medicine and art may not seem obvious, but when you look beneath the surface – as great doctors and artists tend to do – it all becomes clear. Art and medicine share a common substrate: the physical and visible world of matter. They both focus on completing what nature has not. And most importantly, both demand observation, attention, skill, and a strong mind-body-spirit connection that’s required to create work that moves people.
As an artist, Jonathann is inspired by the world around him: the smoothness of a record, the shine of a penny, the softness of fabric, the versatility of paper, and the wildness of tree branches. To Jonathann, anything and everything can become art through the interplay of texture, colors, and dimension. Jonathann’s willingness to explore the possibilities around him result in pieces that are eclectic, detailed, and a true reflection of the diversity of his talents.
